About UnblockedTech

A small, independent desk writing plain-English explainers about the technology behind modern gaming, computing and consumer devices.

What this site is

UnblockedTech was founded in 2023 with a narrow, stubborn goal: take the technology stories that matter to ordinary players, builders and buyers, and explain them properly — without the vendor language, without the hype cycle, and without assuming you already know what a transformer or a base station is.

We are not a news wire. We do not try to publish everything within an hour of an announcement. Instead we write longer explainers that stay useful for months, then go back and update them when the underlying facts change.

What we cover

Everything on the site fits into one of five sections:

The common thread is consumer relevance. If a development will eventually change what you buy, how you play, or how exposed your data is, it is in scope. If it only matters to enterprise procurement teams, it usually is not.

How we work

Every article is written by a named person and read by an editor before it goes live. We say plainly when something is uncertain, when a claim comes from a company rather than an independent test, and when we simply do not know yet. Where an article carries an estimate or a projection, we attribute it rather than presenting it as fact.

We publish corrections rather than quietly editing mistakes away. Our full standards for sourcing, updates and advertising are set out in the editorial policy.

How the site pays for itself

There is no paywall and no subscription. The site is funded by advertising, which is served in clearly marked slots and never blended into the body of an article. Some links to products are affiliate links; where that is the case we label it, and it never changes what we write. The full arrangement is described in our disclaimer.

The team

The site is run by a small desk where each byline owns a beat. We publish under consistent editorial names rather than personal ones — our editorial policy explains why, and how to reach the person responsible for any article.

Founder & Editor-in-Chief

Arjun Malhotra

Arjun started UnblockedTech to explain consumer technology without the jargon. He edits every article on the site and writes mainly about artificial intelligence and the platforms it runs on.

Senior Technology Writer

Priya Deshmukh

Priya covers connectivity, mobile hardware and the standards work that quietly decides how fast your devices actually get. She is happiest when a spec sheet turns out to be hiding a good story.

Contributing Analyst, Security

Marcus Whitfield

Marcus writes our security coverage, from household device hardening to the long migration toward post-quantum cryptography. He believes most breaches are boring, and that this is the point.

Contributing Writer, Emerging Tech

Lena Fischer

Lena tracks the technologies that are almost ready — headsets, decentralised identity, quantum hardware — and tries to separate the demos from the products you will genuinely be able to buy.

Getting in touch

Corrections, tips, advertising enquiries and data requests all go to the same desk. Email contact@unblockedtech.com or use the contact form. We read everything, and we answer most messages within two working days.
